Monthly Favourites

OPI Midnight in Moscow, MAC Dark Side, Flo Perfume Atomizer, NUXE Huile Prodigieuse, L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Excess, Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask.

I love reading monthy faves posts so i thought i would get in on the action and show you all what i was loving in October. First up is OPI midnight in Moscow, which is a black with fine red glitter specs in to make it an overall dark maroon/burgundy colour. I love unusual colours and i love dark nails especially in autumn/winter so this was a perfect edition to my collection. Next is MAC's Dark side which is a dark red/plum colour and something completely different to what i already have in my lipstick collection. This colour i think is quite an easy wearable red because its not so purpley that you look like a witch on Halloween. In October i finally purchased a Flo Perfume Atomizer, which is basically a little perfume bottle for your handbag which you can decant your favourite perfume into. Mine has Tom Ford Black Orchid in it, which is my all time fave evening scent because its so sensuous and completely different to my usual girly scent of Flower Bomb by Victor and Rolf. Next is the Nuxe Multi-Usage Dry Oil which can be used anywhere on the body. Mine was a sample from a Glossybox and i have used it on my face, hair, knees and elbows and really like how it nourishes without being sticky. It also makes my hair super shiny and smell divine = a winner in my eyes. I also bought the L'oreal Million Lashes Excess on a whim but i have actually really enjoyed using it because it makes the lashes long without being too clumpy. In October i also caved and bought the Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation which has been hyped up by a bunch of bloggers. In all honesty i dont wear foundation all that often anymore, i tend to use LM tinted moisuriser and concealer as i love the effect it gives, but this is the foundation i have reached for in the evenings when i have wanted to look flawless. In a nutshell, this foundation is very pigmented which gives full coverage but still offers a glow because it isn't a very thick consistency. It's quickly become my fave foundation and i would even say its better than Estee Lauder Double Wear or Illamasqua Skin Base. Another fave is Eight Hour Cream by Elizabeth Arden,  i suffer from really chapped lips and this makes them soft and plump. Finally my ultimate fave of the month is REN's Radiance Renweal Mask, another product which has received a lot of hype. This mask makes your face feel baby bum soft from the first application and over the weeks it has definitely improved the texture of my skin. The only downside to this mask is that it feels like you are putting honey on your face and it does give a slight tingle.

Make-up: Marilyn Monroe MAC Collection

Last Thursday MAC cosmetics launched their latest collection inspired by Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn has always been an idol for me. I have loved her fashion sense and blonde hair ever since i can remember and that has carried through into my adult life. So when i heard the collection was out, i knew i had to get my hands on a few pieces because as a beauty junkie, i have always loved looking at images of how her make-up was applied, especially her winged liner and red lips. The ever so talented make-up artist Lisa Eldridge did a make-up tutorial over on youtube a few months ago, which was very informative on the techniques used to create her eye shape ect... Check it out here (LINK) if you haven't already seen it. Unfortunately, a few things i wanted were sold out, but what i did get i absolutely love. First up, the packaging is so cute. I know, I know.... i have to chuck it away..... but i really want to keep the packaging haha! MAC even added a cute little touch when opening the box, which is sealed with a little red Marilyn lipstick print....LOVE.Aaaaanyway. On to the products themselves. I got the peach blusher in Legendary, which is so subtle yet really warms the cheeks up without being over powering. I have never owned a peach blusher before, so this is a really nice item to add to my make-up collection. As for the lipsticks, i got the nude one called Pure Zen and the red called Love Goddess. Pure Zen is a really nice warm toned nude, that doesn't conceal your lip colour and make you look dead because its a Cremesheen formula! Result. As for Love Goddess, the colour is absolutely perfect for recreating the classic Marilyn look. It has pink undertones, which makes it much more wearable and its also a Satin formula, which gives it a nice shine. This is honestly my favourite collection MAC has ever done and i really hope i can get some more pieces when (and if) it comes back in stock!

Did you get anything from the MAC Marilyn Monroe collection?

Chantecaille Just Skin

Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15

First things first, this tinted moisturiser is the most expensive make-up product i have ever purchased, at a staggering £57. Chantecaille is a real luxury make-up brand that you can only really find on the high street in Space NK (which we unfortunately do not have in and around Sheffield). I have wanted this tinted moisturiser for around a year now, basically ever since i read this Grazia beauty post by Millie Mackintosh, who has the most beautiful dewy skin i have ever seen. I finally splurged when i took a trip to manchester and justified the purchase with how hard i had worked on my dissertation. Now, without a doubt this product gives your skin luminosity and literally makes your face glow, however this product does not give you much, if any coverage, so if you suffer with problem skin its probably better to mix it with foundation or consider a different product all together. Compared with the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser, Chantecaille applies much nicer and doesn't feel as sticky... plus it gives you that glow that i really believe no other product can do, but the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser gives you much better coverage and is a perfect every day foundation. I do honestly think that there are other products on the market that can give you a similar effect, but for some unknown reason i just love this product. Maybe because it is so luxury. Maybe because i have been brainwashed by Millie's face. Do i regret the purchase? Absolutely not.

Have you tried this product? Or are you considering purchasing it?

Skin Regime from Avene

Avene Gentle Milk Cleanser, Avene Gentle Toner and Avene Cleanance Lotion

Always a sucker for the Boots 3 for 2 deal, i decided it was time for a new skincare range. My previous range was the Champney's cleanser and toner from Boots and although it was very luxurious, it was heavily scented, which hurt my super sensitive eyes. I couldn't decide between Vichy and Avene but in the end i opted for Avene because i have very dehydrated and acne prone skin and had heard good things about Avene being brilliant for sensitive skin. I have being using my new skin care range for just over a week now and so far so good, i have literally fallen in love with the cleanser and toner because it has made my skin feel so soft, hydrated, plump and rejuvenated. The moisturiser is for oily skin and although my skin is dehydrated i prefer using a product that targets my acne as i tend to break out over my T-zone. I am definitely going to be purchasing some other items from the Avene range, so if you have any recommendations please let me know. I would really like to test out the Avene thermal spring water spray but i am not sure if buying spring water for my face is just like throwing money down the drain.

Bobbi Brown Peony & Python Palette

This weekend, i had a short trip to Winchester to see the fam. Me and my boyfriend also decided to take a quick trip to Gunwharf Quays at Portsmouth Harbour. For people who do not know, Gunwharf Quays is an designer outlet! At Gunwharf, they had a Cosmetic Company, this is my fave shops at these outlets because it stocks top end make-up brands for discounted prices. Perfect for a girl like me, as i love my high-end cosmetics, but do not like the price tag that comes with it.... i am a poor student after all.

So while i was browsing the heavenly cosmetic counters, i noticed this beautiful little zip pouch in the Bobbi Brown section. I have to say Bobbi Brown is not a brand i really go to, i have only ever tried the concealer, which is actually really good. So i swatched the colours on my hand and fell in love... The first row of shadows are: Opal (grey), Lavender (lilac), and Cool Ivory (taupe/grey) and the second row has Cobra (deep grey), Plum Orchid (purple), and Eclipse (black)....and i am not even one of those people that love wearing colourful eye shadows, but i love the lilac/purple in this palette and literally cannot wait to wear them!

Now this was still very expensive, it cost me £26.75 and retailed at £38!! However, i really think it will get a lot of use, because it is the perfect size for my handbag and has a good sized mirror, for touch ups throughout the day.

What do you think? Any recs for Bobbi Brown? I am considering trying more of this brand as so far the products seem amazing.

The Make-Up Haul

hmmmm i might have gone a bit shopping mad this last few weeks, oopss! heres some beauty items i've purchased and love so much i want to share with the beauty blogging world, i am not great at doing reviews, so here's a mini low down:

1. Essie nail polish & no7 nail colour (with £5 off voucher) i love unusual colours so these are right up my street! check out my instagram if you want to see them better!
2. Bourjois flower perfection - unfortunately i don't love it as much as healthy mix, but this is full coverage and you don't need to powder over it. i have dry skin too but it doesn't stick to those areas, especially if you use the primer that comes with this flower perfection collection too!
3. Maybelline 24hr colour tattoo - i think these are great but they need more colours! Similar to MAC paint pots but no way near as dry, as is says on the tin, they last a long time!
4. Sleek brow kit - i love this product, it comes with a wax and a setting powder! it also has two little brushes and teeny tiny tweezers, which are soooo cute, but that damn small that i already lost them :(
5. Revlon lip butter - this is the only one they had left at the counter and i love it, seriously cannot wait to get my hands on the rest!!
6. Fake Bake Flawless - this smells amazing!!.. it also comes with a luxurious tan mitt and makes you a lovely colour...what more could you ask for really!?

Infinity ring

My infinity ring came this morning and i love it, its so tiny and delicate!
*here is the link if you want to have a look*

As you may already know, i love the meaning of the symbol (see infinity necklace post), so when laura from buynowbloglater posted about this ring i desperately wanted it. Then last thursday i was in a lesson (oops) when i saw Shannon's post on her blog thebeautyforte. It looked so beautiful, so i ordered it that minute and i am so glad i did.

I am really pleased with my first experience of ordering something on etsy. Laura was lovely and after we discussed what size i should get, she made the ring to measure, which makes the ring feel really special! I decided after talking with Shannon that i would order it in a size to fit my ring finger, rather than on my knuckle, because i was too worried i would lose it, but i do still want one for my knuckle, maybe in gold or rose gold.

what do you think? have you ordered one?

L'Oreal Cheryl Cole Lipstick 297

I am not going to lie, even if this lipstick had been green, I was going to buy it regardless. Ever since I heard that Cheryl was going to be producing a lipstick with L’oreal for her charity, I have wanted to purchase it. I like Chezza, I enjoy L’oreal make-up products and I LOVE charities.

I am always on the hunt to find the perfect red, as I really struggle to find one that doesn’t make me look washed out or have yellow teeth. I do think with red lipstick, fake tannage is key.

I have to say I was ever so slightly skeptical to purchase this, when I swatched it on my arm in boots, because this isn’t a subtle red at all, but I bought it anyway and I have to say am pleasantly surprised.

I tried it earlier with no fake tan and it doesn’t look bad with my natural skin tone at all! It also must have a hint of blue in the colour concoction, as it makes my teeth look super white.

It is quite shiny, which I don’t mind because I have dry lips but the only down side is that they L’oreal have not produced a lip pencil to match the lipstick shade, which is a problem as it does bleed quite badly.

All in all, I like it a lot and I vow to wear it next time I go out on the town, ‘cos I’m worth it wye aye man’.

MAC Naturally Collection

The other day I was on a spending ban, but then I spotted the new MAC Naturally collection. So yeah, I died and went to make-up heaven. I am such a sucker for anything that is labelled as ‘natual looking’ make-up, that is why I love the Urban Decay Naked Palette so much!!!

So, I was reasonable and although I wanted EVERYTHING, I purchased the three things that I thought I would die without. Subtle.

I purchased two lipsticks, ‘A Perfect Day’ and ‘Sweet Sunrise’. First off, I LOVE the names of these products. I know that’s so sad, but I do. Without a doubt, my favourite is Perfect Day and if it wasn’t completely sold out I would go and buy another two for back ups.

I also bought ‘Twilight Falls’ (CUTE NAME!) which is a mineralize eye shadow, I have never owned a mineralize e/s before so I was quite excited and it hasn’t disappointed me at all, it is a beautiful taupe colour and looks lovely on its own or mixed with All That Glitters from MAC’s main eye shadow collection.

I wish I could buy the blonde MSF and the other lipsticks, but c’est la vie, I am just glad I  got what I did.

Did you get anything from the Naturally Collection?

tattoo love 3

In december, some of you may have noticed that i 'instagrammed' a picture of a tiffany box. It was a monumental occasion, in which me and my boyfriend celebrated our fifth anniversary together. He gave me the 'Tiffany Infinity pendant' to suggest that our love is infinite, yep he is such a cutie! I love the symbol, it's so simple but can mean so much. So i looked into tattoo's of the symbol and was shocked by how many people have actually had the symbol tattooed on them in different places to represent different things, such as love, religion or peace.

Here are some of the ones i found inspiring, to me they are beautiful:

(all from tumblr)

I love the idea of having it tattooed on your ring finger, especially if you are getting married. I also love the idea of his and hers matching tattoo in the same place on your bodies, such as your wrist. The infinity symbol is definitely something i am considering getting tattooed in the future.

So what do you think to the symbol? What tattoo would you get?

vintage Icon: Marilyn Monroe

i will forever have a crush on marilyn monroe.

although after studying her at uni, i found her life to be incredibly sad, she will forever be a heroic icon in my eyes because of the aurora she gave off. i love how her make up and clothes were styled, so timeless.
